Y12: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest- p.100 to end of Part 1

Dear all,

Please read from p.100 to end of Part 1 (p.126).

What reflections can you make at this point in the novel? Think about what you've been told, your impressions and how they were created, where you think the novel is headed or where you wish it were headed etc...

Write a few paragraphs reflecting back on Part 1 but aim to go beyond what you have said before (no repetition of your previous points).

Thank you.

Dear all,

1. Read My Great Ambition, choose a passage and write a journal entry on it.
2. Post your entry.

A journal entry is where you select a passage (a line, a paragraph etc...), you record the page number and line/ paragraph and analyse it. Your analysis may focus on character development, or plot development, setting etc... exploring diction or symbolism or imagery etc...

Y11: Poetry revisions 1

Dear all,

You will start using this blogging site to post some of your homework tasks. If you are reading these instructions, well done!

All you have to do is write a comment in the comment space below the task.

Formulate 1 essay question following the model in class today (on another set of poems and a different focus) and respond to each other’s essay titles. So, write 1 essay title and respond to 2 students’ essay titles.

By responding, I mean giving feedback as to the validity of the essay titles. For example, "I think your essay title works well"; or, "Maybe you need a different focus as it doesn't really work for the poem....".

Remember! This is a public forum that everyone has access to. The purpose of this process is to share thoughts and views and offer positive feedback.

Thank you.
Mrs Gougeon

Y12: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest- p.24 to p.37

Dear all,

For Thursday, please read from p.24 to p.37.
Write a journal entry on why these divisions in the structure yet still part of Part 1 of the novel. Reflect on the reasons of this structure and the effects on the reader, you.

Please post your entry on the website AND aim to respond to one post at least in a constructive way. For example, your response could be, "I love what you said about...."; or, "How did you get that feeling of....?"; or, "I didn't see that but now it's making me think. How about....?"

Thank you.
Mrs Gougeon

PS: It is difficult to give you guidelines as to how long your entries should be but bear in mind that some will be shorter or longer than others. Since this process (publishing on the website) implies it is done publicly, do not feel intimidated nor pushed. It is up to you to get as much, or as little, out of these journal entries. This is not a comparative exercise, it's a platform to read, think and share opinions.
